Sefer Yona: Archaeology

This video is part of the Sefer Study series.

This is an analysis of the Archaeology of the Sefer by Nachliel Selavan MA. Ed (www.museumtours.co.il) - more info below.

Archaeology Snapshot is a discussion on the location, timeline, main characters and highlights from history and archaeology, for each Sefer in Tanach.

Yona is the fifth of the “twelve prophets” or תרי עשר, which span a period of over 300 years.

Yona is sent to Nineveh, an ancient city which would also become the capital of the Assyrian Empire. The are some mysteries surrounding the time of Yona, and his identification. Is he the Yona mentioned in Melachim? Or perhaps a later one? Did he prophesy unto the mighty, neo-Assyrian Empire, or to the city of Ashur as it was merely a city-state?

This episode discusses those and more topics.
